Amritsar: Amidst months of infighting in the Punjab Congress, the high command is likely to decide on the suspension of former state chief Sunil Jakhar. A notice was issued to him over his anti-party statements and a reply was sought within a week. With no response from him, the Congress disciplinary committee has recommended the suspension of Jakhar for two years. In fact, Sunil Jakhar is alleged to have made statements against the party in the recent assembly elections and this weakened the congress' chances. Talking to reporters after the disciplinary committee meeting in Delhi, Tariq Anwar said that the committee has submitted its recommendation to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. It has suggested action against Sunil Jakhar. Meanwhile, before the meeting, Sunil Jakhar had put out a tweet showing his ness. He had written in the tweet that, today the heads will be his, in which there is still a conscience left. Although Sunil Jakhar had written nothing but this one line in his tweet, the gesture was clear that he was talking about the disciplinary committee meeting.
