Congress president's election nomination begins, Tharoor ready with form

New Delhi: The buzz over the election for the post of Congress national president has intensified. The nomination process for the post of candidates has started today i.e. Saturday (September 24). Candidates for the post of Congress president will be able to file nomination papers till September 30. Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor, a big contender for the post of president, is also likely to file his nomination papers today. In fact, Tharoor had informed the Congress Central Election Authority that his nomination papers should be handed over to anyone who came with his official letter this morning. After this, Tharoor's representative reached and took his nomination papers.

Tharoor's representative Alim had reached the Congress headquarters to receive his nomination papers. It is being told that Alim is associated with the All India Professional Congress. Congress leader Madhusudan is all set to distribute his nomination papers at the Congress headquarters in Delhi. He said the nomination process for the congress president's election has begun. From 11 am to 3 pm, any candidate can come and call for nomination papers by coming himself or sending his authorized representative. Explain that any candidate can call the nomination papers through his representative, but the person concerned has to reach himself to submit the nomination.

The Congress had on Thursday issued a notification for the post of the party's national president. According to the party's election schedule, the nomination process for the polls will be held between September 24 and September 30. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on October 1, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be October 8. If there is more than one candidate, the election will be held on October 17. The counting of votes and results will be released on October 19.
