Make My Trip lays off a large number of employees

Due to coronavirus, different industries around the world have been badly affected, in which the travel industry has suffered the most. Travel-related online services company MakeMyTrip has fired 350 employees. Sources said that most of the fired employees were involved in international holidays and related services.

Deep Kalra, Executive Chairman and Founder of MakeMyTrip Group and Rajesh Mago, Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said in an email to employees that this round is still uncertain, but it is certain that the company is going to have a long-term impact. He said it is not yet clear when the journey will be safe after the Covid-19 epidemic.

In his statement, he said that in the last two months, we have analyzed its impact very closely and spent a lot of time thinking about the business. This makes it clear that Corona has a profound impact on some businesses and it will take too much time to recover. When asked about this, a company spokesperson said that 350 employees have been affected by this layoff. Also, he said that to help the affected employees, we are trying our best to provide mediclaim coverage for them and families by the end of the year. Apart from this, we are also offering leave encashment to the employees.
