New Delhi: Amidst the threat of Omicron variant, a corona blast has taken place at a government school in Karnataka and a medical college in Telangana. In Karnataka, 59 students of a government residential school in Chikmagaluru as well as 10 teaching and non-teaching staff have been found corona positive. Meanwhile, 43 students have been found infected with corona at Chalmeda Anand Rao Medical Sciences Institute in Karimnagar, Telangana. The top district official of Chikmagaluru in Karnataka said that no infected patient had been diagnosed with the virus. Chikmagaluru Deputy Commissioner K N Ramesh said there is no need to panic as a team of doctors has been deployed and an ambulance has been placed on standby. Meanwhile, the school, which has 450 resident students enrolled, has been senitized and sealed. He said infected students and employees have been quarantined in a part of the hostel. In Telangana, detailed information is still awaited after 43 students turned corona positive at the medical college in Bomakkal village. The district medical health officer said on Sunday that more information is yet to be given by the college. Telangana had a total of 3,787 active corona cases till Monday. A total of 3,999 patients have died of corona in the state so far.
