Corona blast at IIT Roorkee, 90 students test Covid positive

Dehradun: About 90 students of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand have received covid virus test positive. After this Haridwar District Health Department has sealed 5 hostels Coral, Kasturba, Sarojini, Govind Bhawan, and Vigyan Kunj of IIT Roorkee, and have been declared as Containment Zones. This has been reported by an official of the institute.

IIT Roorkee spokesperson Sonika Srivastava said that the infected students have been kept in the Ganga Hostel inside the IIT campus. The hostel has also started a special Covid Care Center. Srivastava said, "These students have been kept under the supervision of the medical officers of Haridwar". Also, about five hostels have been sealed. However, the online classes of the institute continue without interruption.

Srivastava clarified that the institute is strictly following all the covid guidelines of the state government. Earlier, more than 50 students of IIT-Jodhpur in Rajasthan were stunned by the confirmation of coronavirus. An official said that all the reports were found positive within a week. It is being told that all the students had returned to the institute to attend practical classes.
