207 new cases of coronavirus found in Assam

207 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Indian state of Assam came out on Saturday. The number of patients in the state has increased to 3900. Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about this. Out of the total cases reported in the state, 8 people have died so far. Four of these deaths occurred this week. The minister said that the number of active cases is 2,084, while 1,805 have been cured and three persons have gone out of the state. Out of 207 cases found on Saturday, 182 came up during late night and 25 others during the day.

The minister, while addressing a press conference in the evening, said that in the coming days, the cases are likely to increase further. A large number of people will be returning from Kerala and Karnataka trains in the state next week. Around 25,000 people from Kerala are expected to arrive in the next few weeks and two trains are scheduled from Bengaluru.

After the arrival of so many people, the number of cases of infection may increase further. The minister said that so far 1,73,156 people have returned to the state. 68,630 by train, 65,156 by road, and 39,730 by flights have returned. After the traffic started from other states, cases have increased rapidly in the state. The highest number of 285 cases were reported on 4 June, followed by 269 on 3 June and 269 on 12 June. The recovery rate of positive patients has also increased from 10% of the previous week to 47.98% on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Assam Health Department will do 50,000 random tests in Guwahati city after the increase in Corona infection cases and the state government may consider a lockdown if more cases arise.
