Vaccine shortage in Mumbai, vaccination halted at 342 centres in the city today

Mumbai: The corona havoc in Mumbai is now receding but in the meantime vaccination is taking place very slowly. Now, today itself, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has reported that due to non-availability of full number of Covid-19 vaccines, there will be no vaccine at the municipal body and maharashtra government centres today. Let us also inform you that there are a total of 342 covid-19 vaccination centres in the city, out of which 243 are managed by BMC and 20 are in the hands of Government of Maharashtra.

A release issued by the civic body said, "It has been decided to stop vaccination on Thursday due to non-availability of adequate number of vaccine supplements. Mumbai has been given 33,24,428 covid vaccine doses till June 1". Moreover, the BMC said, "We are expected to get vaccines anytime on June 3, after which vaccination will be restored the next day". Well, let us also tell you that Mumbai is the first city in the country to announce vaccination for pregnant women.

It is important for pregnant women to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and bring a certificate from their gynecologist that they are fully fit for vaccination. But yes, not a single pregnant woman has come forward to get the vaccine so far. Now, if we talk about the deaths in Maharashtra, more than 15,000 new corona cases are coming up every day even after a lot of strictures. Last Wednesday, 15,169 new cases were reported in the state during which 285 patients died.
