Covid Roundup: India logs 795 new cases, active cases fall to 12,054

New Delhi: According to data released on Tuesday, India had 795 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The total number of active cases in the country has decreased to 12,054. In the last 24 hours, 58 people in India have died as a result of COVID-19, bringing the country's total death toll to 5,21,416.

The total number of persons who have recovered from COVID-19 has risen to 4,24,96,369, with 1,280 people being released in the last 24 hours. According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.03 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76 percent. For the first time in 715 days, India recorded fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.

On December 19, 2020, India's COVID-19 tally has crossed the one-crore mark. Last year, the country passed the two-crore-coronavirus-case mark on May 4 and three-crore-case mark on June 23.

According to the Health Ministry, the daily positive rate was 0.29 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.22 percent.  COVID-19 vaccinations have been provided to a total of 1,84,87,33,081 people.
