CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said on Thursday that the possibilities of Covid-19 spreading following the Pongal festival and the movement of people from city to villages are high. To keep the infection at bay, he also advised individuals to wear masks, maintain physical distance, and sanitise and wash their hands on a regular basis. According to reports, the state currently has 3,787 containment zones, with 9,237 streets in Chennai alone having active instances. Even though the state's TPR is just 20 percent, residents should be wary of the spread because neighbouring states such as Kerala and Karnataka are reporting larger numbers of cases and TPR. He claims that the only way to avoid this is to follow Covid's guidelines. If private hospitals try to make money by admitting patients with minimal symptoms to hospitals for exorbitant fees, complaints can be made to the state medical helpline 104, according to the Minister. After a complaint is filed, a team from the Directorate of Medical Services will arrive at the hospital, conduct an investigation, and take action if necessary, according to Subramanian.
