BHUBANESWAR: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has registered 11,086 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 80,914. According to the State's daily Covid bulletin, 6,431 new cases were recorded from quarantine centres, with 4,655 local contact cases. 1,061 of the afflicted people are between the ages of 0 and 18. The district with the most positive instances was Khurda, with 3,469, followed by Sundargarh (1,416), Cuttack (766), Mayurbhanj (393), Balasore (323), Sambalpur (302), and Bolangir (300). Four more people have died as a result of the illness, bringing the total number of people who have died to 8,488. New deaths have been reported in the districts of Cuttack, Kendrapara, Koraput, and Sundargarh. On Tuesday, the daily test positive rate (TPR) in the state topped 15 percent. The TPR in the state has risen to 15.63 percent, up from 14.96 percent on Monday. Bijaya Mohapatra, Director of Health Services, said the state had been reporting daily Covid loads of 10,000 to 11,000 cases for the past three days. In this wave, however, the hospitalisation rate and oxygen demand among patients have remained quite low, he noted, adding that the occupancy rate in general beds is 9 percent, 15 percent in ICU, and 5 percent to 6 percent in ventilator beds, while admissions of paediatric cases are also relatively low.
