SEOUL – South Korea reported 7,456 more Covid-19 cases as of midnight Tuesday compared to the previous day, bringing the total number of infections to 583,065. The daily caseload increased from 5,202 the day before to over 7,000 in three days due to higher virus tests on weekdays. According to reports, the recent resurgence was caused by small cluster infections in the Seoul metropolitan area. The city of Seoul was home to 2,779 of the new cases. The number of newly infected people in Gyeonggi province and Incheon, the western port city, was 2,192 and 475, respectively. The virus spread raged in the non-metropolitan region as well. The total number of new infections in non-capital areas was 1,919, accounting for 26.1% of total local transmission.
