COVID-19 vaccination coverage of India surpass 158.04 crore

New Delhi: According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India's cumulative COVID-19 vaccine coverage reached 158.04 crore on Tuesday.  So far, 1,58,04,41,770 vaccination doses have been provided, according to government data. The vaccine has been given to over 50 lakh people as a precaution.

According to the ministry, this was accomplished through 1,69,76,817 sessions. A total of 79,91,230 vaccination doses were administered to the eligible population in the last 24 hours.

So far, 50,84,410 precautionary doses have been delivered, according to the ministry. Healthcare professionals received 19,92,671 doses, frontline employees received 16,85,446 doses, and those over 60 with co-morbidities received 14,06,293 doses. 3,59,30,929 vaccination doses have been delivered to people aged 15 to 18.

Meanwhile, according to official sources, the Union Health Ministry has yet to make a decision on vaccination for youngsters aged 12 to 14. On January 16, 2022, the one-year COVID vaccination effort in India came to an end.

The vaccination push began last year with healthcare personnel, then expanded to frontline employees, then persons over 60 years old and those over 45 years old with comorbidities on March 1 of that year. It was then extended to everyone over the age of 45 on April 1, 2021, and then to everyone over the age of 18 on May 1, 2021.
