Imphal: The Lilong police of Manipur have arrested three youths Abdul Rashid, Najbul Hussain and Mohammad Arif Khan on charges of cow slaughter. The video of the killing of the cow, which is going viral on social media, is 29 seconds long. In it, a group of 10 youths (perhaps Muslims) can be seen slitting the cow's throat on the BJP flag. In the video, the mob is also hurling abuses at Manipur CM N Biren Singh and BJP Manipur unit president AdhikariMayum Sarda Devi. It is also alleged that the video was posted on social media as part of an attempt to incite discord and enmity between communities. Officials of Lilong police in Imphal West district confirmed the incident. He said this could have disturbed law and order in the area and disrupted communal harmony between different religious groups. Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, the police have registered a case under SECTIONS 153A, 429, 504 of IPC and Section 11(1) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 under FIR No. 10(01)2022 at Lilong Police Station.
