GLASGOW:  Katherine Fraser was named captain of the U-19 team by Cricket Scotland on Tuesday. The inaugural ICC Women's U-19 T20 World Cup will take place in South Africa in January of 2019.

In the 16-team competition, Scotland is in Group D with India, South Africa, and the UAE. The Super Six round, which consists of two groups of six teams, will be reached by the top three teams from each group. In the event that Scotland qualifies, they will join Group 1, which will have three teams from each of Groups A and D.

"As they get ready for the first U-19 Women's T20 World Cup, the U-19 Scotland Women team has a very exciting time ahead of them. They will have the honour of being the first Scottish female cricket team to ever compete in a World Cup, and they should always be proud of that accomplishment." "It is expected to be a fantastic event that will give these athletes numerous chances to discover more about who they are as individuals and as developing cricket players.

Following the Super Six stage, the semifinals will be held in Potchefstroom on January 27 and the final will be held there on January 29. "Our U-19 Women have a fantastic opportunity to compete in the first Women's U-19 World Cup." It's the result of years of effort by the players, clubs, schools, parents, and CS staff to develop women's and girls' soccer in Scotland, and I'm optimistic that this group will continue to promote and grow the sport there. "We are all enthusiastic about the group's potential going into the World Cup because of their outstanding results in the qualifiers. The team, staff, and families should have a great time because they are terrific competitions "Gordon Drummond, director of the Performance Pathway, said.
