Controversy over sand mining, again led to this incident

Sangla: A case has been reported of killing a young man after a fight over a sand bed. The dead body of Sonam, the victim of the incident, is still not found. However, the police claimed that the nine accused arrested in the case had confessed to the murder. The accused have said that there was a quarrel over the withdrawal of sand late on September 7. Sonam suffered head injuries in the fight which led to her death. He then threw the body into the Sutlej River. All the accused have been sent on five-day police remand.

At the same time, after the accused confessed to the crime, the police searched the Bhagat drain to the Kscham JSW Dam site, but there is no trace of Sonam yet. Police have sent forensic lab Junga for examination, including blood stains and other evidence found at the scene. SP Kinnaur SR Rana said that the accused have confessed to killing Sonam. Further action will be taken after the report comes from Junga Lab. The family of the deceased had staged a sit-in demonstration in Rekong Peo last Saturday and jammed the wheel. On the assurance of a CBI investigation by the administration, the family stopped the protest. The family is now awaiting further action.
