Crude Bombs were seized near a children's home in Kolkata

KOLKATA: As many as 19 crude bombs were seized from an abandoned auto-rickshaw near a children’s home in Kolkata’s Haridevpur area, prompting the police to investigate whether the explosives were a part of a terror plot, a senior officer said on April 23.

On the basis of a tip, law enforcement officers raided 41 Pally neighbourhood in Haridevpur police station area on April 22 night and seized three abandoned auto-rickshaws on the ground near a children's home, he added.

"In one of the auto-rickshaws operating on the Chakraberia-Bijoygarh route, 19 rudimentary bombs, one country-made pistol, and two cartridges were discovered." "We're looking at the area's CCTV footage," the officer stated.

"An inquiry into whether the devices were part of a terror plan is ongoing. "A quest has been initiated to find the owner of the auto-rickshaw," he said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.
