CT Ravi resigned from BS Yediyurappa cabinet to focus on National Secretary role in BJP

Karnataka BJP held BS Yediyurappa cabinet has seen a resignation of Kannada and Culture Minister CT Ravi and the resignation is to concentrate on his BJP National Secretary post.  He was relieved from his post as Kannada and Culture minister of Karnataka on Saturday. Earlier, Ravi had requested Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to accept his resignation.

At the Kannada Rajyotsava awards ceremony, Ravi expressed his happiness on working as Kannada and Culture minister. “It is a privilege to work for our State and language and I was happy. But the party has given me a new responsibility as BJP National Secretary. Since I cannot focus on both sides, I tendered my resignation on October 2 and again two days back, I requested him. I hope CM will relieve me at the earliest,’’ he said. His role at the centre necessitates travel across various states,  including Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Bihar.

The bypoll results are to be announced on November 10. CM Yediyurappa is expected to expand his cabinet to include the Congress comeouts who helped him to form the government. Ravi’s resignation included Kannada and Culture in the list of Finance, Power, Bengaluru Development, Sports portfolio and a couple of other portfolios which are vacant.
