Couple arrested from IGI Airport, Customs Department caught with 24 lakh gold

New Delhi: Customs Department have arrested two people with gold worth Rs 24 lakhs at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi. The two accused are identified as husband and wife. The Customs Department has seized all the jewelry and registered a case under Section 110.

According to the information received, the two left for India from Dubai on 28 August. They boarded flight number SG012 and arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on 29 August. The Custom officers stopped them from crossing the Green Channel on suspicion and searched their bags.

 The Customs Department has found four gold bangles, a gold ring and a gold chain, whose total weight is being said to be around 700 grams. The price of all the recovered gold jewelry is Rs 24 lakh 24 thousand two hundred and eighteen. The Customs Department has seized all the jewellery and registered a case under Section 110. The Customs Department is engaged in further action.
