KOCHI: Customs authorities in Kerala have apprehended an individual in connection with the seizure of 1.41 grams of LSD stamps at Kochi Airport. The Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch (SIIB) made this significant discovery, shedding light on the illegal drug trade involving psychedelics. The intercepted parcel, which originated from the United States and arrived in Kochi on August 31, was found to contain a total of 123 LSD stamps, equivalent to 1.41 grams. This parcel had been addressed to Chandu Purushothaman, a resident of Ernakulam. Further investigations uncovered Chandu's pivotal role in the illicit importation of LSD stamps into the country. Chandu, who works as an engineer, was apprehended by SIIB officials on Saturday as he attempted to collect a decoy parcel. His arrest is a crucial development in dismantling the network responsible for importing LSD stamps. Chandu has been presented before the local court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody for a period of 14 days. This arrest has led to the filing of a case under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Authorities are continuing their investigation into this matter. LSD stamps are small pieces of blotting paper saturated with liquid LSD. This hallucinogenic substance is available in various forms, including saturated absorbent paper squares, tablets, sugar cubes, or in liquid form, with each unit representing a single dose.
