Daljit Singh Chawdhary Assumes Charge as Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

New Delhi:  Daljit Singh Chawdhary, a seasoned Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1990 batch from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has officially taken charge as the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The handover ceremony saw Anish Dayal Singh, the acting DG and current head of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), pass on the customary baton to Chawdhary at the SSB headquarters in New Delhi. The appointment of Chawdhary, who had been serving as the Special Director General in the CRPF, was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on January 19.

Chawdhary is set to lead the SSB until November 2025, aligning with his superannuation date, or until any further directives are issued. With a distinguished career marked by various critical responsibilities, Chawdhary's extensive experience and skills position him strategically to oversee the SSB's role in maintaining the security and integrity of India's borders.

The SSB, one of India's central armed police forces, plays a crucial role in border security, specifically guarding the borders with Nepal and Bhutan. The appointment of Chawdhary is anticipated to infuse renewed vigor and bring strategic expertise to address emerging security challenges in the region, particularly in the context of safeguarding the border areas.
