New Delhi: In a significant move, Major General Sumit Mehta announced on Tuesday that the upcoming Republic Day Parade will feature an all-women tri-services contingent for the first time. This historic contingent will comprise women troops from the Army's military police, along with their counterparts from the other two services. The 75th Republic Day parade, scheduled at Kartavya Path, will revolve around the themes 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka.'

The parade, set to commence at 10:30 am on January 26 from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path, will be led by Delhi Area Commander Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar. Major General Mehta highlighted the participation of living Param Vir Chakra awardees, Captain Yogendra Yadav and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, in the Republic Day festivities.

Emphasizing the international dimension, Major General Mehta mentioned the French contingent's presence, which includes members of Indian and Nepali origin. Additionally, a flypast will feature a French refuel aircraft along with two French Rafale aircraft.

The parade will showcase modern vehicles such as Terrain Vehicles, Light Specialist Vehicles, and Special Mobility Vehicles. The flypast will include Indian Air Force aircraft like ALH Dhruv Rudra and LCH Prachand, totaling 51 planes comprising fighters, helicopters, and transport aircraft. Notably, 15 women will be part of the flying squad.

Key attractions of the Republic Day festivities include the traditional Aahvan through the blowing of Shankhs (Conch shells). French President Emmanuel Macron will be the Chief Guest, marking the sixth occasion of a French president holding this honor and the second instance of a French contingent participating in the parade.

This year sees a significant rise in women's participation, aligning with the government's vision of Jan Bhagidari. Around 13,000 special guests have been invited to witness the parade, offering people from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to partake in the national festival.
