Gang rape of a woman in front of several women, 9 accused arrested in Delhi case

New Delhi: Nine accused, including seven women, have been arrested in connection with the case of walking around wearing a garland of shoes after gang-raping a woman in Delhi. Shahdara police have arrested nine accused on charges of misbehaving with the woman while detaining two minors. Apart from this, 15 people have been identified on the basis of CCTV footage.

Police said five teams are continuously conducting raids so that the accused can be nabbed at the earliest. In East Delhi's Kasturba Nagar, a woman was kidnapped and gang-raped. After this, the woman's face was smeared with soot on her face and she was paraded in the streets wearing a garland of shoes. According to the Delhi Police, the 20-year-old victim is being counselled. She lived with her husband in Anand Vihar, who was kidnapped by the accused who lived near her mother's house in Kasturba Nagar.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the boy and the victim of the accused's family were friends.  According to the Delhi Police, "The boy of the accused family had committed suicide in November last year and his family is now blaming the victim, they had allegedly molested her to take revenge on the woman, they wanted to teach her a lesson."
