NEW DELHI: The Delhi BJP on Thursday unveiled its "Vachan Patra," or commitment letter, pledging homes for slum dwellers under the "Jahan Jhuggi wahan Makaan Scheme," ahead of the forthcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. "With a commitment to allot houses to slum dwellers, we have come up with this Vachan Patra which comprises data of the allottees," Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said while releasing the manifesto. The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lied about cleaning the Yamuna river and has again made a "false" promise to clean in the future, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who strives for the development of the entire nation. Last month, as part of an In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation (ISSR) initiative, Prime Minister Modi officially opened 3,024 freshly built Economically Weaker Section (EWS) apartments in the nation's capital and gave the keys to slum residents at Bhoomiheen camp. The list of members for the election committee was confirmed on Wednesday by J.P. Nadda, the president of the BJP at the national level. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) constructed the 3024 apartments as part of its in-situ slum remediation initiative. Also, the BJP organised visits for slum residents from various sections of the city to view the apartments at Kalkaji for the economically weaker section (EWS) category. The Lok Sabha member from Northeast Delhi said:- Vachan Patra has a form that the slum dwellers will fill out and then give to the appropriate departments.
