Delhi Police Arrest ISIS Terrorist Rizwan Ali Ahead of Independence Day Celebrations

NEW DELHI: In a major security operation ahead of Independence Day, the Delhi Police Special Cell has apprehended Rizwan Ali, a known ISIS module terrorist, from the national capital. Rizwan, a resident of Daryaganj in Delhi, was wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and had a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on his head due to his involvement in terror activities.

Rizwan Ali is believed to have been part of the Pune Module of ISIS and had been on the run. His presence in Delhi, especially in the days leading up to the Independence Day celebrations, raised alarms and led to his arrest. The authorities are currently investigating the purpose of his presence in the capital at this critical time.

"The ISIS module terrorist, identified as Rizwan Ali, has been arrested. The NIA had declared a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on him. Rizwan is a resident of Daryaganj, Delhi," stated the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.

The NIA had previously released photographs of Rizwan Ali alongside other wanted individuals linked to terrorist activities. In response to the heightened security concerns, the Delhi Police had already increased security measures across the city. Posters of various terrorists associated with groups like Al-Qaeda and Khalistan were displayed, urging the public to assist in the capture of these individuals. Informants were promised suitable rewards, with their identities kept confidential.

In a parallel move to bolster national security, the Punjab Police also stepped up their vigilance earlier in the week. They conducted spot searches at all bus stands across the state, frisking passengers and using sniffer dogs to ensure safety. This coordinated effort involved multiple police districts working simultaneously to prevent any potential threats ahead of the national celebrations.
