Delhi riot case: Crime Branch files charge sheet in the murder of Akbari Devi

New Delhi: The crime branch of Delhi Police has filed its charge sheet in the Karkardooma court today in the case of the murder of 85-year-old Akbari Devi during the riots in the country's capital Delhi. During the investigation of this case, the crime branch arrested 6 people who are still in jail in judicial custody.

The incident took place on 25 February in Bhajanpura area of North East Delhi. Later the case was handed over to the Crime Branch of Delhi Police for investigation. After the riots, questions were also raised in Parliament regarding Akbari Devi's case and many leaders mentioned it during the debate in Parliament. In particular, Congress leader Kapil Sibal asked the Home Minister in this case that what is being investigated in the Akbari Devi case.

According to the information given by the police, Akbari Devi died because of the rioters set her house on fire. Other members of his family ran away to the top floor of the house, but due to old age, Akbari Devi could not go to the roof and during this time the fire took a form of rage which killed Akbari Devi.
