New Delhi: A woman working in a branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) in the national capital has succeeded in opening her mouth properly after 30 years after treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Hospital doctors have given the woman a new life after rare surgery. A woman named Aastha was suffering from a congenital disorder. Her jaw bone was connected to the skull bone from both sides of the mouth. Because of that, she could not open her mouth. Even, she could not even touch her tongue with her finger. She was alive on fluid. The opening of the mouth had infected her teeth and caused that only a few teeth left. Could not even see with one eye. The biggest problem was that her whole face was full of blood-filled veins of the tumor. No hospital was ready for surgery. Her family had also shown up in major hospitals in India, the United Kingdom, and Dubai. Everyone refused to have surgery. The senior plastic surgeon of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said that when we saw the patient, he told the family that surgery was very difficult and excessive bleeding could also lead to death on the operation table. We convened a team of plastic surgery, vascular surgery, and radiology departments and decided to carry out this complex surgery after a lot of deliberations. Three weeks before the operation, a special injection was applied to the patient's face, causing a slight shrink in the blood-filled veins. The operation was followed by that. The fully successful operation took three and a half hours.
