Dhanbad: On Tuesday, 14 people died in the Ashirwad Tower fire in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The corrupt system of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation and the Fire Department is directly responsible for these deaths because this apartment was constructed only on the map passed by Dhanbad Municipal Corporation. At the same time, it is the responsibility of the fire department to approve the means of fire prevention in the apartment. The rules of fire prevention of RERA and the National Building Code have not been followed in the construction of apartments, and the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation is responsible for their compliance. A building that is 15 meters above the ground level or more than three floors is considered a high-rise structure. Before starting the construction of any such structure, a certificate of approval has to be obtained from the authorized officer of the Fire Department. Fire protection arrangements and means of escape should be indicated on the drawing with suitable signs and symbols. It should be attested by a licensed fire contractor or architect. Many of these rules were not followed in Ashirwad Tower. As per the rules, every floor of the building should have two staircases for quick evacuation in case of fire. It's important for those buildings, Which are residential and the living space has more than 150 square meters of floor area. Apart from this, the width of the stairs should be at least 2 meters. Because the narrow stair clearance increases the risk of a stampede. But the stairs in Ashirwad Tower are very narrow. In such a situation, many people have lost their lives on the stairs. In addition to the lifts in a high-rise, there should be a separate lift, especially for firemen for emergencies. The speed of fire lifts should be more than that of regular lifts, the speed should be such that the fireman can go from the ground floor to the top floor within one minute. But such an arrangement was not found in Ashirwad Tower.
