Collector Dharmendra Kumar was married on March 11, 2015 to Vatsala Singh, daughter of Ashirwad Pipe, owner of Kamdhenu Sariya and Vinay, a resident of Barh in Patna district. After marriage, their relationship could not work. On March 7, 2018, Collector Dharmendra Kumar had filed an application in the court for divorce from his wife. Due to this, a case of dowry harassment was also filed against Dharmendra Kumar in the court. Dharmendra Kumar's first wife Vatsala Singh filed a dowry harassment case against Dharmendra Kumar on March 21, 2018. Thereafter, she went to the National Commission for Women. The Women's Commission had summoned Collector Dharmendra Kumar on 20 July. In this case, there was a tussle between City SP and Women's Commission member Sushma Sahu in the ADG office of CID.
