DIG Roopa joins the ranks of officers who uncovered irregularities and were transferred

Roopa D Moudgil who recently alleged that AIADMK leader VK Sasikala received preferential treatment in Bengaluru Central Prison by paying a bribe has been transferred from the Prisons Department by The Karnataka government. She will now hold the office of inspector general of police and commissioner for traffic and road safety in Bengaluru. This comes after she filed a controversial report alleging that a bribe of Rs 2 crore had been paid by Sasikala to senior prison officials, including director central of prisons HN Satyanarayana Rao, for getting privileged treatment, including a private kitchen. While the news is being spread that the transfer is a part of ensuring a fair probe, no such probe has yet been instigated.  Chief minister Siddaramaiah has announced an inquiry into the matter, to be headed by retired IAS officer Vinay Kumar. NS Megharikh was posted as the additional director general of prisons. He was ADGP anti-corruption bureau earlier. The accused kitchen officer has been transferred without any charge as he is set to retire next month. READ MORE: LIVE: Monsoon Session second day starts with a storm
