Digvijaya Singh attacks Central Govt over Indo-Taliban meeting, says 'It will fall under the category of sedition..'

The Congress has recently attacked the Central government over its claim that Indian officials have met Taliban leaders. Congress leader Digvijay Singh hit out at the government based on a media report report saying, "This is a very serious matter. The Government of India should make an immediate statement on this subject. Will the BJP IT cell take it into the category of sedition?" Let us tell you that the senior Qatar diplomat has recently claimed that Indian officials have secretly visited Doha and held discussions with Taliban leaders.

Qatar's Special Envoy for Terrorism and Conflict Resolution, Mudadabin Majid al-Qahtani, told a virtual programme on Monday that Indian officials have made a quiet visit to discuss with the Taliban, as not every country believes that the Taliban will dominate after the US forces withdraw from Afghanistan. However, there is no official statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on India's discussions with the Taliban so far and no confirmation of the visit has been made.

On his claim of the same Indo-Taliban meeting, Mutalaq bin Majid Al Kahatani had also said that 'Indian officials may have had discussions with Taliban leaders keeping in mind the future. He had said that India would not have discussed with the Taliban because afghanistan would be in power by the Taliban, whereas it would have been because the Taliban could play an important role in Afghanistan in the near future. That is why each party seems ready for discussion', Kathani said.
