Diljit Dosanjh apologizes to fans on stay of execution on Jodi's release

After the release of his upcoming Punjabi film 'Jodi' was delayed, actor Diljit Dosanjh broke his silence and apologized to the fans who had been waiting for the film's release. After a local court in Punjab issued a stay order on the film's release, Diljit took to Instagram Stories to pen a note. 

Diljit took to Instagram Stories to publish a Punjabi statement addressing the present delay in the release of his film, saying,  "Jodi. Film di sari team ne baut hardwork kita.. apna 100% dita sareya ne.. Par kissey kaarn eh film aaj India ch release nhi ho rhi.. Jo jodi da intzaar kr rahe c ona ton maafi.. sareya nu pyar te satka." 

On May 3, just days before the film's release date of May 5, a court in Punjab's Ludhiana granted a stay of execution for Jodi Teri Meri, a biopic on the late Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot Kaur. Civil Judge (Junior Division) Karandeep Kaur has issued summons to the film's cast, including Diljit, Nimrat Khaira, Gurmail Kaur, Chamkila's wife, Karaj Gill of Rhythm Boyz Entertainment Pvt Ltd, and Daljit Thind of Daljit Motions Films, to be returned by May 8, the next date of hearing.

The court issued the orders while hearing a plea filed by Ishjeet and Sanjot Randhawa, sons of deceased producer Gurdev Singh Randhawa. According to the petition, Chamkila's widow gave their father the rights to do a biography of her husband in writing on October 12, 2012. She also got a sum of 5 lakh for the same reason and agreed to be bound by the aforementioned agreement/writing. There was no time constraint set for making the biopic.

Last month Diljit's another film titled Chamkila, also faced legal trouble. It is based on lives of slain Punjabi singerd Amar Singh chamkila and his second wife Amarjot Kaur. Imitiaz Ali film also starring Parineeti Chopra and it is stayed by the court of civil judge Harsimranjit Singh on March 21.
