Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader RS Bharti in Tamil Nadu has been arrested by Chennai Police on Saturday. DMK Rajya Sabha MP Bharti is accused of making objectionable statements against Scheduled Castes (SC). He allegedly gave a statement against the Scheduled Caste community in the month of February this year. A case has been registered against DMK leader RS Bharti under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989. A case has been registered against two DMK leaders at two police stations in Chennai. 73-year-old RS Bharti has been arrested by the police from his residence this morning for making derogatory remarks against the Scheduled Castes. Recently a case was filed against him on this matter. The DMK leader says that in February this year, a statement given by him at the party meeting was twisted and tossed on social media. He said that more than 100 days have passed since this statement. For this, he accused the government that he was being targeted due to the government's disclosure of certain corruption cases.
