Chennai: In the early hours of Thursday, the Madipakkam police detained seven persons, including an AIADMK functionary and his driver, near Samayapuram in connection with the death of a DMK man on Tuesday night. Radhakrishnan is the secretary of the AIADMK Amma Peravai in Tuticorin, and Dhanaseelan is his driver. Vignesh, a 21-year-old Erukkancheri resident, Bhuvanehwar, a 21-year-old Pallavan Road resident, Sanjay, a 21-year-old Vysarpadi resident, Vignesh, a 21-year-old Arakonam resident, and Kishore Kumar, a 26-year-old Tiruvallur resident, are the other five. Vikravandi in Villupuram was able to obtain them. While Radhakrishnan and his driver were apprehended at the Samayapuram tollgate, the five others were apprehended by a Vikravandi police team while attempting to flee in a car at the Vikravandi toll plaza, according to police sources. Following early investigations, authorities believe Radhakrishnan was involved in the murder of C Selvam, a DMK functionary, over a land dispute. He may have enlisted the aid of henchmen to carry out the crime. However, authorities have yet to determine a specific motive in the crime.
