Dr Harsh Vardhan expresses grief over Bhiwandi incident, says May God give peace to bereaved families

New Delhi: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan expressed deep grief on Monday over the death of several people due to the collapse of a building in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. In a tweet, Dr Harsh Vardhan wrote that "The untimely death of many people in the heart-breaking accident in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra is very tragic. I pray to God to give peace to the souls of the departed and the bereaved families. Om Shanti"

In Maharashtra, 10 people, including 7 children, lost their lives due to the collapse of a three-storey building in Bhiwandi. 20 people have been evacuated by relief workers. PM Modi has expressed grief over the incident through Twitter. In a tweet, PM Modi wrote, "Deeply saddened by the collapse of a building in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. My condolences are with the bereaved families and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. The rescue operation is underway and all possible assistance is being provided to the victims".

It may be recalled that two teams of NDRF had left for rescue operations after the incident was reported. According to the information, the building was in dilapidated condition. At 3.45 am on Monday morning, the building collapsed. People nearby heard the noise and ran towards the building and with their efforts, about 20 people were evacuated from under the rubble.
