New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has strongly condemned the decision to suspend eight MPs in the Rajya Sabha over the uproar, saying the proceedings reflect the government's autocratic mindset. West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has accused the BJP of killing democracy, with it saying that she will contest the 'fascist' government both in Parliament and on the road.

Mamata Banerjee tweeted, writing that, "It is sad to suspend eight MPs who are fighting for the benefit of the farmers and this reflects the autocratic mindset of this government which does not believe in democratic principles and rules. We will not bow down and fight this fascist government both in Parliament and on the road. The party termed the suspension of MPs including TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien as 'undemocratic' and said the ruling BJP 'cannot be allowed to become a chaotic jungle".

TMC head in Rajya Sabha Sukhendu Shekhar Roy questioned the way the Rajya Sabha hearing proceeded. Roy also said that all parties should condemn this action in 'this temple of democracy'. On Sunday, the opposition started an uproar when the government insisted on passing two bills related to agriculture on Sunday.
