EAM Jaishankar to embark New Zealand and more from Oct 5

NEW DELHI:  External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to visit Australia and New Zealand for a week, starting from Wednesday. During his separate discussions with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta, he will  review the two countries' bilateral relations.

Jaishankar will accompany New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on her maiden trip there as a minister on Thursday to honour members of the Indian community for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions.

According to a statement from the External Affairs Ministry, "both leaders will distribute India@75 postage stamps to commemorate and highlight Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in New Zealand." Also being released by Jaishankar is the book "Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery."

On this occasion, a book titled "Heartfelt - The Legacy of Faith" that details Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unique relationship with the Sikh community will also be released.

The Minister for Community and Voluntary Sector, Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, and Youth, Priyanca Radhakrishnan, is one of the other New Zealand ministers with whom Jaishankar will interact.

The first person of Indian descent to hold the office of minister in New Zealand is Radhakrishnan. He will also communicate with New Zealand ministers, businesspeople, and members of the Indian diaspora, such as students. Jaishankar will dedicate the Indian High Commission's brand-new building in Wellington. In Australia, he will visit Canberra and Sydney. The 13th Foreign Ministers' Framework Dialogue will be led by Jaishankar and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong.

He will also connect with the Australian Navy, the media, and think tanks, including the Lowy Institute in Sydney, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles.

This will be Jaishankar's second trip to Australia this year.

He had come to the nation in February to take part in the Melbourne Quadrennial Meeting of Foreign Ministers.
