Hours after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan mentioned Kashmir in his address to the General Assembly, India's Minister of External Issues S. Jaishankar met with Mevlut Cavusoglu for a wide-ranging discussion on world affairs.

In a tweet after the meeting on Tuesday, EAM Jaishankar said they held a "wide-ranging discussion that covered the Ukraine conflict,G20 processes,  food security, global order, Non-aligned Movement and Cyprus". Turkey is involved in the conflict between its ethnic countrymen who control the northern, secessionist portion of Cyprus and the Greek Cypriots.

Erdogan took a seemingly impartial stance in his statement on Tuesday morning when he remarked, "We hope and pray that fair and lasting peace and prosperity can be established in Kashmir." He avoided making Kashmir a worldwide issue by bringing up UN resolutions, as he had done the year before, or by harshly criticising India the years before that.

Erdogan is the only other political figure to have brought up Kashmir in recent speeches to the 193-member Assembly, aside from Pakistani MPs.

In talks between Russia and Ukraine, Turkey has assumed a crucial role. In collaboration with the UN, it helped open Kiev's ports to food grain supplies via the Black Sea.

Tuesday also saw Jaishankar meet with Austria's foreign minister, Alexander Schallenberg, whom he referred to in a tweet as "my good friend," and they "discussed increasing our collaboration in mobility and education," Appreciate his insights on the Ukraine conflict and its aftermaths," he said.

In his tweet, Schallenberg said that they "had the chance to have yet another wonderful conversation about "bilateral ties, notably in the field of migration." He also  said, "global repercussions of Russia's unparalleled assault against Ukraine were examined." Jaishankar also met with Najla Elmangoush, Libya's foreign minister, and tweeted that he valued her perspectives on how the situation in Libya was changing ".

On Tuesday, his second day of diplomacy outside the General Assembly, Jaishankar had high-level talks with the presidents of Ghana and the Comoros, Azali Assoumani and Nana Akufo-Addo.

Jaishankar tweeted that, he and Akufo-Addo "mostly on counterterrorism, we discussed our continuous collaboration in the UN Security Council. appreciated our development partnership's accomplishments ". India and Ghana have tight ties in terms of development, and India provides funding for numerous infrastructure, educational, and technological projects in Ghana.

Assoumani complimented "India's outreach in eradicating Covid-19 and dengue," Jaishankar tweeted. They "discussed moving forward with our development cooperation and collaborating on marine security," he said.
"Interesting talk on the global situation and its multilateral ramifications," Jaishankar tweeted after his meeting with Denis Moncada, Nicaragua's foreign minister.
