New Delhi: The global epidemic is deeply disturbed by the ever-rising inflation with the Corona virus. The country is also witnessing a steady rise in edible oil prices. According to official data, edible oil prices have reached their highest level in the past decade this month. On Monday, the Department of Food and Public Distribution held a meeting with all parties involved in the rising prices of edible oils. In the meeting, the department has asked the state as well as trades to take all necessary steps to bring down the prices of edible oils. The department has also issued a statement after the meeting. According to the statement, "In the last few months, india has registered a much higher rise in prices of edible oil than the price of edible oil in the international market. The central government had also expressed its concern over this. After which all parties to the edible oil trade were called for the meeting." More than 60 per cent of edible oil imports into India are from abroad, so it is linked to global prices. According to data received on Tuesday, the average price of mustard oil has touched Rs 164.44 per kg in the month of May. This is 39 percent higher than the month of May in the last year. The average price of mustard oil in May 2020 was Rs 118.25 per kg. This oil is mostly used for cooking in all households in India. In May 2010, it was priced at Rs 63.05 per kg.
