Mumbai: In the presence of NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Maharashtra, Eknath Khadse joined the party. After the allegation of corruption, he was angry with Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government in 2016 after resigning as a minister. The former minister and the leader of the opposition in the state assembly have also been there. It is believed that Khadse from Jalgaon district of Khandesh had a strained relationship with Fadnavis. There was a time when he had the number two status in the Fadnavis cabinet, but he was largely ignored in the BJP since he resigned as Revenue Minister due to land acquisition charges in 2016. Eknath Khadse intensified his attack on former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and said that due to his arrogance, the BJP was ousted from power in the state in the last assembly elections. It was his ego, which led the BJP to lose power after the 2019 assembly elections. Eknath Khadse Saheb, who along with the departed Gopinath Munde Saheb, worked for many years to expand the BJP in Maharashtra. He told me some time ago that he wanted to leave the party. He has claimed that the people of the state have seen that "injustice" has been taking place in the BJP for the last few years. That is why he is changing the party.
