In the Venezuela's capital Caracas, 14 family are dying slowly in government accommodation. The families living in the ground floor of a ministry building a stone's throw from the Miraflores presidential palace said Here, we're dying slowly. It's shameful that humans have to live this way. Venezuela which was heavly wrecked by the crisis provided state-supplied shelters for hundreds of families. Lot of people lost their homes to flood damage, and the six years of economic meltdown under President Nicolas Maduro left millions in extreme poverty, the basic services have been paralyzed.

A massive housing plan in 2011 was launched under the late president Hugo Chavez. The people in shelters are expecting aid from the socialist government that boasts of having delivered three million homes since 2011. Signs on the walls of the ministry building  reads: "No more Trump," and "Vote Chavez." There were no basic services like running water, residents are vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic. When the world is worrying about the mask usage, the resident in that building asked Why worrying about mask? pointing the filth and stagnant water around them. The country has registered 86,000 cases and 736 deaths to the COVID-19 mandated it's citizens to wear masks. Initially people were made to stay in this building as a temporary arrangement but is continuing their stay here though years pass by.

Everyone in the shelter are living with the hope of new home. One of the person said, "We live in a room that was meant to be a bathroom. When the plumbing is flushed, imagine the smell". Everyday people has to deal with mosquitoes, cockroaches.  "At 7:00 pm they close it up with a padlock and if you're outside, you stay outside. At 6:00 am, they reopen," said Carlos, 49, residing in the building "It's like a day release prison."
