Elderly woman seen dead, house ransacked in Delhi

NEW DELHI: An octogenarian woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Northwest Delhi, Police said.

Police said that the incident took place on January 29, and the house of the victim, Shanti Devi (88), a resident of Karawal Nagar extension was found ransacked.On Sunday around 9 am., information was received at Dayalpur police station that a woman living in Karawal Nagar Extension is not responding.

"Responding to the call, the Station House Officer and a police team rushed to the spot. Shanti Devi was discovered dead in her bed. The house had been looted "The official said.

"The criminal and FSL teams went over the area. The body was taken to GTB Hospital. A case has been registered under sections 392 (robbery) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation is underway "The official added.

Police said, numerous teams have been formed, and they are also examining CCTV footage in the neighborhood to identify the perpetrators and determine the crime sequence.

The old woman had three sons and was living alone in the house,police said.
