Election Commission Acts on BJP's Complaint, Orders Transfer of Senior Odisha Bureaucrat

Bhuvneshwar: In response to a complaint filed by the BJP alleging misuse of public office, the Election Commission swiftly ordered the immediate transfer of senior Odisha bureaucrat Sujata R Kartikeyan. Kartikeyan, who is the wife of BJD leader V K Pandian and holds the position of commissioner-cum-secretary in the Department of Mission Shakti, Odisha, was directed to a non-public dealing department.

The move came shortly after the BJP's petition to remove Kartikeyan from her post, citing her alleged involvement as an "agent" of the ruling BJD in the state. The complaint raised concerns about Kartikeyan's active participation in the elections, suggesting that her actions were influenced by her husband's association with the BJD.

Expressing dismay over Kartikeyan's deviation from professionalism, the BJP emphasized the need to uphold the impartiality and integrity of the Election Commission. The party urged the Commission to relieve Kartikeyan from her duties in order to maintain the unbiased reputation of the electoral process in Odisha.

The Election Commission's decision to transfer Kartikeyan reflects its commitment to ensuring fair and transparent elections in the state, free from any perceived biases or influences.
