Ellen DeGeneres remembers about the initial days of her namesake talk show that lasted for 19 seasons

Following the startling announcement that Ellen DeGeneres' namesake talk show will be cancelled, the media celebrity recently reminisced on the show's long run, which began in 2003. Ellen DeGeneres told Access Hollywood that she never expected the program to go this long. DeGeneres also provided some advice she would give her younger self in the year her show first aired.

"I believe I offered the advise on the first day." I mean, I wanted to produce a program that was very entertaining for everyone and provided an hour of daily escapism. I wanted this to be a joyful place no matter what was going on in the world. I wanted everyone here to enjoy themselves while working here, and I didn't want to take anything for granted,” the 63-year-old added.

DeGeneres also reacted on how she could never have foreseen the show's enormous popularity. "But if you had told me 19 years ago that I would still be doing this 19 years later, I would never have believed it. I assumed it would perform well, but talk shows don't typically run that long. So I'm incredibly fortunate and glad that it's lasted this long "She confessed. If you didn't know, DeGeneres revealed in May that the talk show would end after its 19th season next year. The revelation followed allegations that the talk show presenter was misusing her authority and created a "toxic workplace climate" for her whole staff.
