New Delhi: The name of Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is once again linked to controversies. The midnight molestation of a PhD student here has raised questions about the security arrangements on the JNU campus. The student was molested while she was roaming around the premises. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Gaurav Sharma informed that a PhD student was walking near East Gate Road on campus around 11.45 pm on Monday night when a man from inside the premises came riding a bike and tried to molest her. The accused fled when the girl raised her voice. Police have registered an FIR in the case. Several teams are constantly working to nab the accused. After the incident, students of JNU took out a protest march on the campus. The students were scheduled to march from the JNU campus to the Vasant Kunj police station but were stopped by Delhi Police at the campus gate itself. Even after the students protested, the police did not allow them. Was also in controversies regarding Babri Masjid:- Earlier, on December 6, 2021, JNU was embroiled in controversy. JNUSU had protested here in support of the Babri Masjid. Moreover, slogans were raised in support of the Babri Masjid on the premises and there was a demand for its re-construction. A protest march was taken out by JNUSU on the night of December 6. The Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished on December 6, 1992, against which the demonstration was held. Meanwhile, JNU Students' Union Vice President Saket Moon and activists of left organizations present here had demanded the reconstruction of the Babri Masjid.
