Malappuram: Two Muslim students (Basit and Jabir) from Malappuram in Kerala have stunned the people by winning the online Ramayana quiz contest. The in-depth knowledge of the great epic has helped Basit and Jabir to make winners. The competition was organized online by the giant publisher company DC Books. Both are students of KKSM Islamic and Arts College at Valanchery in the north Kerala district. The students said they knew about the epic since childhood. After joining the Waffi course, he began to read and learn deeply about Ramayana and Hinduism, which has the teachings of all the major religions in its curriculum. Zabir said "All Indians should read and learn the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata as they are a part of the culture, tradition and history of the country. I say it is our responsibility to learn and understand these texts. Ram also had to sacrifice his land to fulfil his promise to his revered father Dashrath. Living in a time of endless struggles for power, we must draw inspiration from characters like Ram and the message of epics like Ramayana.'' Basit feels that a comprehensive reading will help people from other religions and these communities to understand more. He said that no religion promotes hatred, but only promotes peace and harmony. He said that winning the quiz has inspired him to learn the epic more deeply. If you ask Basit about his favourite chaupai of Ramayana, he immediately repeats the chaupai of 'Ayodhyakand'. It describes Lakshman's anger and the consolation being given to his brother by Lord Shri Ram. In it, Lord Shri Ram explains in detail the futility of empire and power.
