Excise Policy Case Update: Sanjay Singh Required to Share Itinerary, Keep Google Location On if Leaving NCR

New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue court has imposed certain conditions on Sanjay Singh after accepting his bail bond on Wednesday. Among these conditions, Singh is required to furnish his itinerary via email and keep his Google location on if he leaves Delhi or the National Capital Region (NCR). The bail was granted to him by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Special CBI Judge Kaveri Baweja instructed Singh to provide a bail bond of Rs 2 lakh along with one surety bond of the same amount. His wife, Anita Singh, provided the surety bond. Initially, the court had intended to restrict Singh from leaving the Delhi NCR region altogether. However, upon hearing the arguments put forth by advocate Rajat Bhardwaj, who represents Sanjay Singh, the court decided that Singh should share his itinerary and also his location with the investigation officer.

Sanjay Singh, a key leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Rajya Sabha, has been granted bail, providing a significant relief for the party. The Supreme Court approved Singh's bail on Tuesday in the Delhi excise policy case, after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) chose not to oppose it.

This development is crucial as it may have implications for other party members involved in the same case. Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia has been in custody since February 2023, while Chief Minister Kejriwal was arrested on March 21.

The bail for Singh was granted by a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Dipankar Datta, and PB Varale, with conditions set by the trial court. Singh, represented by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, agreed not to make any political statements or comments regarding his role in the excise case.

Sanjay Singh has been held in Delhi's Tihar Jail since his arrest in October, implicated in an alleged liquor policy scandal. This incident has caused turmoil within the opposition party, leading to the arrests of Mr. Sisodia and his former superior, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, just weeks before the election
