New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has carried out raids at the jodhpur residence of Rajasthan CM and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot's brother Agrasen Gehlot. The case pertains to fertilizer scam. Agrasen Gehlot is alleged to have exported subsidised fertilizers during the UPA government in 2007-09. According to reports, the CBI team reached the premises of Gehlot's brother Agrasen on Friday (June 17, 2022) morning, when he was at home. The CBI team consists of 5 officers from Delhi and 5 from Jodhpur. The ED is also investigating the matter. The customs department had also imposed a penalty of around Rs 5.46 crore on Agrasen's company. In 2020, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the premises of Ashok Gehlot's brother in the fertilizer scam. During this time, raids were conducted at six places in Rajasthan. Which included Jodhpur. Along with this, two places in West Bengal, four in Gujarat and one in Delhi were raided. According to ED officials, Agrasen Gehlot's company Anupam Krishi was involved in the export of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizers even after its export was banned. Let us know that The Indian Potash Limited (IPL) imports the MOP and sells it to the farmers at a subsidy. Agrasen Gehlot was an authorized dealer of ipl. His company bought the MOP between 2007 and 2009 at subsidised rates, but instead of selling it to farmers, it sold it to other companies at higher prices and earned illegal money. Those companies shipped the MOP to Malaysia and Singapore in the name of Industrial Salt. On this scam, Prakash Javadekar had said that while on the one hand, the Congress claims to be talking about the interest of the farmers, on the other hand, its leaders even give away the subsidy of the farmers. He clearly described it as a theft of subsidies. He had also raised the possibility of money laundering in this case.
