Lucknow: On the night of November 18, the Patwai Police in Uttar Pradesh received intelligence regarding the presence of cattle traffickers from Moradabad. This information led to a confrontation between law enforcement and the alleged traffickers in the Rampur district. During the encounter, one suspect, identified as 23-year-old Sajid, was fatally shot, while another individual, 30-year-old Bablu, sustained serious injuries and was subsequently admitted to a government hospital. Bablu is currently undergoing interrogation by authorities. The incident unfolded as police intercepted a car carrying the suspected cow smugglers, who were traveling at high speed from Moradabad to Shahabad. Upon realizing they were being pursued, the suspects attempted to escape but lost control of their vehicle, causing it to overturn. Law enforcement officials cordoned off the area, and when they tried to apprehend the suspects, a gunfire exchange ensued. In response, the police fired shots, injuring both individuals in the legs. Following the incident, Sajid was declared dead upon arrival at the Rampur district hospital, while Bablu received medical treatment for his injuries. The confrontation stemmed from a prior incident on Diwali night (November 12) when three bovines were killed in Doharia village near the Patwai police station. This prompted the police to take proactive measures against cattle traffickers, leading to the encounter with the suspects from Moradabad.
