Mumbai: Acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi, known for directing blockbuster hits like 'Dhoom' and 'Dhoom 2,' tragically passed away on Sunday, November 19, at the age of 56. Sources indicate that he suffered a heart attack. Gadhvi, who was set to celebrate his 57th birthday on November 22, is survived by his wife Gina and two daughters.

Gadhvi's notable contributions to Indian cinema also include directing films such as 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' and the Imran Khan-starrer 'Kidnap.' In 2012, he helmed 'Ajab Gazabb Love,' followed by 'Operation Parindey' in 2020.

The filmmaker made his directorial debut with 'Tere Liye' in 2000, and despite going unnoticed, it marked the beginning of his journey in the industry. Gadhvi gained widespread recognition with the action thriller 'Dhoom' in 2004, a film that left an indelible mark on Bollywood.

The news of Gadhvi's sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the film fraternity. Filmmaker Kunal Kohli expressed his grief on social media, stating, "This is beyond shocking. #SanjayGadhvi RIP never thought I’d have to write your obituary. Shared an office for many years at YRF, lunch dubbas, discussions. Will miss you my friend. This is too hard to accept."

Yash Raj Films, where Gadhvi shared a professional history, paid tribute to the late director by sharing a photo and expressing, "The magic he created on screen will be cherished forever. May his soul rest in peace. #SanjayGadhvi." The untimely demise of Sanjay Gadhvi has left a void in the Indian film industry, and his contributions to Bollywood will be remembered fondly.
