BJP executive president JP Nadda said here on Saturday that Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Manmohan Singh were also in favor of helping the minority victims of religious persecution in neighboring countries. Along with saying this, he has been accused of misleading the people about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on the opposition. Addressing a group of minority refugees from Pakistan at the BJP headquarters over the citizenship law, Nadda alleged that opposition parties were spreading misinformation that the enactment of this law would bring crores of refugees to India, which would be difficult to handle. In his statement, Nadda said that this law will apply to those who have come to India before December 31, 2014. People are being given false information that the implementation of the CAA will end their citizenship. Whereas, this law gives citizenship, not snatch. Nadda said that opposition parties are spreading misinformation about CAA in vote bank politics. The truth is that the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi and the first Prime Minister of the country, Jawahar Hall Nehru, also supported the idea of helping the victims of religious persecution in neighboring countries. In 2003, Manmohan Singh also requested the then Home Minister LK Advani in the Rajya Sabha to do something for the refugees suffering religious persecution from Bangladesh. He said, 'Now that Modi ji has done this, then the opposition is doing this politics.'
